Coloring books have gained popularity in recent years for all ages as a way to ground yourself and de-stress. Simple or meticulous, it’s easy to get excited about the variety of options on the market today and find something fun to color and relax. This virtual show is inspired by the joy of collaborating with art friends that encourage bringing out your True Colors.

Rules & Overview:

To ensure work can be formatted into a cohesive visual art show, please review the requirements below and only submit works that fall within the guidelines that are supported for digital presentation.

Maximum submission limit of 3 works per artist. A singular work is considered 1 digital coloring page line art. Fanart and original characters are allowed.

This is a two part show.

Phase one will focus on drawing a line art piece that will go into creating the True Colors show coloring book. This work must be lined art on a white background similar to an inked drawing or coloring book style. TheArtKids.org website will be updated with a virtual coloring book viewing experience to preview the line art in coloring book format.

The participating artists will be randomly matched and assigned another’s line art piece to color and complete by the second phase.

Phase two will focus on coloring the assigned art piece that will be displayed virtually as part of the True Colors show in 2025. You are welcome to use any type of media to complete the work, keep in mind it will be displayed in digital art book format in the final show on TheArtKids.org website. Artists are welcome to color any line art and there is no limit on colored submissions, creativity is encouraged here.

The final “art book” show will open virtually on February 14th 2025 and stay online through the end of June. After that, all works and profiles will be archived.

Your work will be open for coloring by all participating artists. (ex: hi-res file of your work will be available to participating artists) Your work may also be printed as part of the True Colors show coloring book if artist gifts are created, but this will not be sold or printed without knowledge/notification and inclusion in the gift if a participating artist.

Please know that work submitted for this show can/will be distributed in hi-res amongst participating artists – this is part of the collaborating experience in the two phases.

Once your registration has been approved, you will be added to the artist profile page.

All artist profiles will be launched by July 2024 and stay online throughout the show.

Please do not share the final art you create for the show before the launch date, but you are more than welcome to share parts of the process as you create it. (FYI: You are not required to share anything, these are just suggestions and preferences.) Use the special hashtag “#theartkids2025” if you’re posting on social! After the show you may share the finished work widely and however you like, but let your final project(s) be a surprise for everyone!

Types of Work accepted:

• Drawing (digital or traditional) – MUST BE COLORING BOOK STYLE (line art)
  • Format: JPG/PNG, Cropped to Image, 300DPI, 3000px minimum length on longest side
• Coloring/Painting (digital or traditional) – Phase Two Only
  • Format: JPG/PNG, Cropped to Image, 150-300DPI, 1500px minimum length on longest side
